A new horizon in advanced forming technologies

Klune Industries is one of perhaps five companies in the world that has the capability to form nose cowl lip skins. We alone in the world can form .071" thick 2219 clad material to 15" deep and maintain the original clad surface and material stock thickness tolerance. This historical example is the result of belief in the company and the support of our customers. Lip Skin
This perfectly formed detail shows a nose cowl lip skin worked in a trim fixture. Note the 15" deep smooth back surface, free of wrinkles and other imperfections. The forming of this part was completed while maintaining original mil-thickness and clad coating.

 

Lip Skin for #2 Engine
The high cost of a one-piece lip skin for the MD-11 engine demanded a drastic cost reduction. Klune Industries replaced the one piece with a three-piece lip skin fabricated and used on the #2 engine shown here.
