History

Jim Clune started Klune Industries as a one-man weld shop in May 1972. Like most small companies, the first years were extremely tough - including the business burning to the ground with no insurance coverage. For three years, it remained a small weld shop with one process. After 1975 Jim Clune partnered with Vince Johnson, who has since retired. Multiple processes and products were developed after the partnership formed.

Klune Industries currently focuses on aircraft, aerospace, and computer chassis markets. The company operates in North Hollywood, California, and in Spanish Fork, Utah. Combined facilities are located on 18 acres of land, utilizing 238,000 square feet of factory space, employing approximately 400 people. Sales have grown steadily and continue to do as Klune Industries, Inc. increases services to better support their customers.

The company sells services to manufacture the customers' products. Klune Industries sells complete services for original equipment manufacturing (OEM). These services include designing, engineering and manufacturing. The company offers sheet metal, machine details, and assemblies manufactured utilizing approximately 40 in-house processes and a greater number of outside processes.

Klune Industries' products range from simple sheet metal brackets to multilevel computer chassis, aircraft airflow skin assemblies, and fully integrated missile launchers. Klune Industries is a fabrication source of several assemblies required for the military's most advanced missile systems. Customers include AlliedSignal, Boeing, B.F. Goodrich, Raytheon, and Secure Communication Systems. "Job shop" type work is an extremely competitive field and the areas where Klune Industries has been able to excel are engineering, quality, and cost savings.
