Stinger Missile Assembly
Klune provides all three versions of launchers for the Stinger missile system including the dual mount launcher, the Air-to-Air launcher (ATAL) for the Apache and the standard vehicle missile launcher (SVML).
Challenge
Klune has to manage the complexity of all three launcher versions which require the sheet metal forming, machining and assembly capabilities from our divisions in North Hollywood and Spanish Fork. These programs include smaller detailed parts, various product testing and special coating requirements.
Remedy
Klune has been able to meet the customer's expectations thanks to a close concurrent engineering effort and specific training for the manufacturing and engineering teams involved in the project. Klune was also able to maintain its manufacturing know-how over the years through training and knowledge transfer.
Results
Klune has secured a multi-year supply contract and has now been providing components and assemblies for the various Stinger programs for more than a decade.
